Living a Dream: Lusaka, Zambia

Yesterday...I found out that my dreams of serving in Africa are becoming a reality. I was accepted to intern at the Chisomo center in Lusaka (the capitol) working with street girls teaching hygiene, leading devotionals, teaching computer skills, and improving literacy rates. It is so hard for me to even put into words how excited I am. The exact times that I will be there are not set in stone, but it is looking like I will be there for the month of July! My mind is going a mile a minute, and I can't contain my excitement. But at the same time, I am scared. Scared of it not living up to my fantasies, God telling me something I'm not expecting to here, missing my loved ones, finances... I'm scared of a lot of things. But my excitement to finally carry out what God laid on my heart years ago outweighs my fear. My trust in His provision, strength, and courage outweigh any of my fears. God has been preparing me and my heart for so long so that I could carry out His plans in my life. I feel so blesses to be participating in what God has set on my heart to accomplish. I hope to write everything down and share it here so that I don't forget the journey that I'm on. I hope you are encouraged as you see God work in my life and in those around me. I hope to post about once every few weeks leading up to my trip (I know I haven't been very consistent lately :P) and hopefully more frequently while I'm there! I can't describe easily what God showed me while I was in Zambia and how it has truly changed my life and my views. I will follow God anywhere in order to be a part of what He is doing. I count everything else as garbage so that I may know Christ as Paul writes. God has shown me that He is enough, whether I am in America or Zambia. Please read the rest of my blog for more details about my trip and what God is teaching me now. Here are some photos from the trip to show you a little of what I was doing for a month! I hope you enjoy, and as always, feel free to comment or contact me for any more information!
